Amber promo codes for existing customers
Already with Amber Electric? A promo code won't add anything to your account, because they're for brand-new customers only. What you can do is earn the same credit by passing on a code of your own.
The short answer
There's no Amber promo code for existing customers. Instead, open the Amber app, go to Settings > Amber Mates Rates, and share your own code. Each friend who joins with it gets credit, and so do you: $10 off your bill each month for 20 months ($200) each, under the current terms.
Why existing customers can't use a promo code
Amber's referral terms (clause 1.1.1) say the person using a code must never have been an Amber customer, either at their current address or at any earlier home or business address. So the code on this site, X9DWGVWC, only helps someone who is joining Amber for the first time. That includes customers who are moving house: a new address doesn't make you a new customer.
How Amber Mates Rates works for you
- Find your code. In the app, open Settings and tap Amber Mates Rates. Your code and a referral link are there. Can't see it? Update the app.
- Share it with friends and family. There's no cap on how many times it can be used (clause 1.2), but codes can't be transferred to another customer (clause 1.3).
- They join with it. Your friend enters your code at sign-up and must meet the same new-customer rules.
- You both get credit. $10 off your bill each month for 20 months ($200) each, processed within two months of your friend joining (clause 4.4). You need to still be an Amber customer when it's applied (clause 1.1.4).
The rules worth knowing
- If your friend leaves, the credit neither of you has received yet is forfeited by both of you (clause 4.8).
- It can't stack with another discount code at sign-up, and people who join through Amber's CommBank offer get that benefit instead (clause 4.5).
- Amber can decline or remove credit if it believes the terms weren't met or a referral isn't genuine, and may ask for ID (clause 4.6). Read the full terms before sharing widely.
- Amber can change the terms at any time (clause 4.1), so check the app for the current reward.
Common questions
Can existing Amber customers use a promo code?
No. Amber's referral terms say the new customer must never have been an Amber customer at their current or any earlier home or business address. Existing customers earn credit by sharing their own Mates Rates code instead.
Where do I find my Amber referral code?
In the Amber app, under Settings > Amber Mates Rates. Your code and a shareable link are both there. If you can't see Amber Mates Rates, update the app and check again.
How much do I get for referring someone to Amber?
Under the current terms, $10 off your bill each month for 20 months ($200) for each friend who joins with your code, and they get the same. That's the Spring offer, for sign-ups until 9 November 2026; the standard reward is $10 a month for 12 months ($120). There's no limit on how many people can use your code.
I'm moving house. Can I get a promo code for my new address?
No. The promo is only for people who have never been Amber customers, at any address. If you're moving and staying with Amber, contact Amber about the move (the app lets you request a move-out) rather than signing up again.
What happens to my referral credit if my friend leaves Amber?
Any credit not yet received is forfeited by both of you once the friend stops being an Amber customer. You also have to still be an Amber customer when the reward is applied.
